A routine drive to a window cleaning job took a dramatic turn for Adelaide-based exterior cleaning company Kilted Cleaners, when the team jumped into action to rescue a trapped calf — a moment that quickly went viral and landed them on national television with The Today Show.
Kilted Cleaners Founder John Durrant and Business Manager Sarah Bailey were travelling through South Australia when they noticed a distressed calf stuck in a farm gate. The young animal had its head and front legs jammed between the metal bars and was visibly panicked.

Without hesitation, the pair pulled over and carefully worked to free it.
“We were on our way to a window cleaning job when we saw it,” said John. “It was stuck good and proper. You can’t drive past something like that.”
Today Show Starts Viral Sharing
The footage quickly spread across social media. Within 24 hours, The Today Show reached out and invited the pair to appear live to tell their story.
On air, John and Sarah described the rescue, the unexpected attention it received, and the values behind their brand. “It’s not every day you end up on telly because of a cow,” laughed John.
Sarah said: “We’re usually known for cleaning windows, gutters and solar panels and pressure washing driveways — but I suppose we’re in the pet rescue business now too.”
